Introduction:
Yet Another CourseWare System (YACS) is a complete and free system for delivery of asynchronous instructional material and pedagogy over the Internet. YACS can be viewed and managed from any computer attached to the Internet but requires a Microsoft IIS Server. Since a large portion of servers are Microsoft based, this is not a difficult requirement. The feature set was developed in response to a number of pedagogical needs and meets or exceeds the offerings of other popular CourseWare systems while also seeking to create an intuitive interface for both designers and students. YACS is in its third generation and has been in continual use since the first generation (Spring '99).

YACS is available complete with source code. While the system is complete, I encourage users to add to the code and send those additions to me. Improvements will be included in the code with full acknowledgment to contributing authors. Known installation issues include the requirement for the popular ASPMail component and the need to change some security systems. Please contact Charles Balch for particulars and/or to request a copy of the source code.

Try the functional demo. In hopes that others will benefit and add to the feature set, the technology has been declared open source.
